Stolen By Lucy Christopher

As I finish reading "Stolen" by Lucy Christopher the character in my book, Ty, never intended to abduct Gemma in the first place. I guess he just used her for live and other things. Ty later on tells Gemma how he met her. He was drunk and she found him in the bushes and wasn't afraid to talk to him. In the book it says "People should love what needs loving. That way they can save it." I think thats the way that Gemma thought when she was helping Ty. And Ty went to take care of her as a return.

Overall what I think about this book is a bit different. I kinda got confused if Gemma was still the narrator or if it was Ty. But the book was still great. I felt like I was being Gemma and how Ty was doing all these generous things. It made me feel that Ty was next to me. I really love books that I could picture exactly what's going on in my head, and this book did it!

Stolen by Lucy Christopher

So far in the book there's a girl (First Person POV) who claims that she was stolen form an airport. She's been talking about a guy and all she does is admire him. They sat down to have some coffee. She's totally in love with him. The girl's name is Gemma. She's 16 years old, British, and lives in the city. While reading this story, I thought it was kind of creepy because in the book it said "As I see a line of sweat dripping down his hairline..." But hey, you do weird things for love, right?

The reason why I chose this book is because my librarian recommended it to me. So far I am really enjoying this book because of the romance and how the girl thinks she has no chance with the guy but really he likes her back. I also think other people who likes romantic books should read this because it feels like you are Gemma looking at the guy and thinking if he ever notices you like you do to him. All in all I think the book is fantastic. If you like romantic books, this is a book for you!

Lady Gaga Just Dance Summary

Son far in my biography book about Lady Gaga, it's now talking more about her early life. In the book it said that when she was 11, she got accepted into Julliard School but instead went to a catholic school. Lady Gaga got her name by a song written by the band Queen. It was called Radio Ga-ga. She was mesmerized by it. In 2005, when she was written by a record label "Def Jam Records" she as jamming out to many rock bands, and that's when she started experimenting with her clothes. When Lady Gaga was 19, she dropped out of NYU to presume her musical career. Something most people don't know about is that Lady Gagas Dad, Joe Germanotta, pioneered the installation of "Guest Wifi" in hotels in 2002.

Im still pondering why people think Lady Gaga is a bad influence. She is such a sweetheart! In the book it explained when she was at a sign up event, her fans were waiting outside starving in the cold. Lady Gaga pulled out her phone and called Papa Johns and ordered $1000 worth of pizza to her fans! If this doesn't change your mind about her, I don't know what will. Yes, she has done explicit videos and show's a bit too much, but who else can you think of that buys pizza to her fans, got accepted into Julliard but didn't take it, and got engaged on Valentines Day 2015? To me, I think she's a role model.

Lady Gaga Just Dance Summary

So far in my new biography called "Lady Gaga Just Dance" by Helia Phoenix. In this biography it talks about Lady Gaga's real name, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. She was always the different person. As a young child she was a talented musician. She learned how to play the piano when she was 4 and she even wrote her first ballad at 13! She wasn't your average teenager. She would go out to partys, make friends with gogo dancers and drag queens. (I love drag queens). Before becoming a popstar. She would earn her success different than other musicians. She would work at a night club and bars in New York. She was even booed offstage.

The reason why I chose to read about Lady Gaga is because I don't really know much about her. All I know was that her parents were divorced and she had a creative personality. I feel that not many people know about her and the story behind her. Most people think she's just a lunatic because of her clothes. But really, she just doesn't want to be basic like all the other singers. She just want's to be remembered.

American Indian Response

These American Indian's were marginalized by Captain Henry Pratt by taking these Indians and make them act like white people. Pratt would basically make them not feel "at home". He would make the Indians not speak their language, not wear the clothes they would normally wear, eat different food, and change their behavior physically. If not, they would beat them until they get it right. To me this is basically slowly and slowly getting rid of the Indian culture. In the article it states "Ota Kte was given the name Luther. As for a last name, school officials usually translated each child's name into English. But Ota Kte's name meant "plenty kills" which was considered too "savage." So Ota Kte took his father's name, which is how Ota Kte became Luther Standing Bear. Along with his new name came a new look. His long hair was cut short. His leggings and moccasins were taken away, replaced by an itchy wool uniform and black leather boots that squeaked with every step. He began to learn english and to say Christian prayers. He went to classes and hid his chores. At night, Luther heard children around him sobbing in their beds. He missed his family too." This means that Luther changed so much than he was before. He is now learning the English language and will soon later forget how it was like being Indian.

The purpose of Shanice's essay was to educate us how the Indians acted and their traditions. This essay was similar to the story "Would We Be Killed?" because they still have their traditions and how they normally act, but whats different is that Pratt took the Indians and made them act like white people. Shanice lives on a reservation that was given to her and other Indian people from other tribes and is protected. In the article it says "What is special is that my reservation is surrounded by mountains and a river. I love on 5 acres and my family owns 23 animals: 10 chickens, 4 goats, 4 dogs, 3 cats, a guinea pig, and a horse. WE eat eggs from the chickens and we use manure form the animals to fertilize the soil. We have a vegetable and fruit garden. Living on the reservation has instilled in me a love for nature." To me, this text from the article means that the government gave the Indian tribes a place to feel like home. They have all these animals and they could still do their regular traditions.

If I Should Die Before I Wake Summary

I have just finished reading the book If I Should Die Before I Wake and enjoyed it! I found the book very descriptive. I really liked the back and forth dreams between Hilary and Chana. And I think the  the way the author expresses Hilary when whew was in a coma was amazing. "I can't see. It doesn't matter. I don't want to see, or hear. Im all alone here. Im so cold." This makes me feel what may be some people in a coma would feel. Like they feel useless or maybe even worthless. They want someone to hear them but can't.  Hilary keeps thinking if it wasn't for the motorcycle crash that caused her to be in a coma, she wouldn't have Chana's memories. If only she didn't go on that motorcycle.

This book made me think twice about consequences. Hilary was a neo-nazi. She hated Jews. Then after the accident, she got sent to a jewish hospital and had dreams about a jewish girl. She was now experiencing what Jews go through and all the pain and suffrage. I think the theme is that you should never judge another person because you probably wouldn't understand their beliefs, until you have walked a mile in their shoes. (Like how Hilary did in Chana's memories.).

If I Should Die Before I Wake Summary

As I read more into my book, Chana (Hilary), was in a coma (long story short) after a terrible accident. She begins to have dreams of a Jewish girl named Chana who is fighting for her life in WWII. Her family as brutalized in the ghettos and the death camps in Poland. For those who are capable to survive in the ghettos, were sent to the death camp in Auschwitz. Hilary's father died when  she was 5 when his office burnt down.  That has been really hard on her which caused depression. She lived with her mom who she had nothing in common with. Hilary woke up once after dreaming about Chana and stops hating Jewish people because she now has experienced what they go through.

So far I could really picture the settings in my head and feel whatever Hilary is feeling. The author is using very good describing words. When the author is describing what the camps look like, I actually feel like i'm there. I just don't want to put the book down! I feel like i'm Hilary and having those dreams. If you really like mental pictures, this is the book for you!

If I Should Die Before I Wake Summary

As I start to read my new book "If I Should Die Before I Wake" by Han Nolan, I start to notice something about a character in my book named Hilary. She hates Jews, she has a neo-Nazi gang in her town. In the beginning of the book Hilary seems to be lonely. Like she has no friends, or no one to talk about. Then she discovered the gang. She joins, and now she feels like she fits in and has a new group of friends. Then something terrible happens. She gets into an accident and got sent lying near death in a Jewish hospital. Then, somehow, changed her identity to "Chana"

The reason why I chose this book to read is because it's a holocaust book. Holocaust books grab my attention and I love how every book explains every detail and makes me feel what the Jews have been through. And I feel it bumps up my knowledge about the holocaust and learn new things that I thought I hadn't knew about. I also get to find out more on how the camps are like and how they maintain themselves to survive and pretend everything's alright.

Tolerance

Definition: The ability or willingness to allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.

How can you be more tolerant of others?
I can be more tolerance of others by listening to what they have to say even though I don't agree and sorta make a connection to it or be interested.

What does tolerance mean to you?
What tolerance means to me is that you want your voice to be heard weather people agree with you or not. You just want to feel like your actually worth talking to and want to be cared of. It's kinda like you just want to fit in and have something to talk about.

The Devil and His Boy Summary

So far the name character, Tom Falconer, is working at the "Pig's Head" in Framlingham, England. He doesn't really know much about the outside world and how things work. There are 2 other characters that we introduced. Sebastian and Heinrietta Slope. Who treat Tom like dirt and worthless. But that doesn't stop him. He know's that other people are getting treated waaaayyyyy worse than him. This takes place in the year 1593. Tom believes that it's a rough place to live with at the time but he has to deal with it and his adoptive parent's.

What I liked about the setting was how it makes it look old and worn down. Kind of like a disintegrating look. I feel like I'm in a time machine and traveling to the 1590's and looking at the old houses and old shops. Even knowing how Queen Elizabeth acts/looks. I really like this book so far because I could really picture everything in my head and knowing what's going on. Also picturing where Tom works at.

The Devil And His Boy Summary

I have recently checked out a book called "The Devil and His Boy" By Anthony Horowitz, and so far the main character's name is Tom Falconer. Tom is described as poor and bony. He lives with  family who owns an Inn and the only way he can spend the night and eat food is to work. His biological parents died. His mom passed by giving birth to him, and his dad passed by falling off a horse. So far Tom has been through enough already. The book is also involving the Queen Elizabeth the first and telling the story behind her.

The reason why I chose this book is because a friend recommended it to me. And so far I am enjoying the book because It's taking place back then in England. I also rad the first 5 pages in the book and I couldn't put the book down! It's so interesting how people from England talked back then and to see how much has changed. Of course this isn't a non-fiction book, but it actually feels like i'm in the book and experiencing the life of Tom Falconer. The author used great vocabulary and really explains the scenery well.

Beyonce Knowles

I had just finally finished the biography book Beyonce Knowles. As I was reading, there was another cool fact that I hadn't knew about B. And that was that she was home schooled. She was also being tutored in eighth grade. When she published "Dangerously In Love", she won 5 Grammy's that night! Later on in 2008, she married her husband Jay-Z. and they're still together now and have a kid named Blue Ivy. She has also earned many nicknames like "Bey, B. Queen B, and Princess of Pop." She really dedicates herself with music. As she said "I see music, It's more than what I just hear."

Overall, I think this biography was very informational. I do encourage a lot of people who want to start a singing career to read this book because it shows a lot of encouragement and guts to start. There will eventually be hate but that didn't stop Beyonce. I also think that many fans should read this to show the struggles Beyonce had faced to become the person she is today.

Beyoncé Knowles

As I'm reading more into my book, Beyonce (B) later on goes to a church for support on her career. While B was there, her mom began to pray about her marriage and soon B prayed for success. She prayed for a lot of things. Like a record deal and to become well known. When I read this, I didn't knew that B went to church or spent her time praying. She even said "Every time I go to church, I feel like I'm baptized." When she goes, she always has a posit outlook and hope for her career. She thanks God for giving her this amazing voice and the group Destiny's Child she was in.

What I found interesting of this book so far, was that she always wanted to be a success. She even prayed. This made me think that she was going for her goal in life. They she wasn't going to back down because she flunked her audition. She wanted her dream to come true. I think a lot of people should connect with B because she's thankful for what she has and making the most of it. More people should follow their dreams and not making a small silly mistake and give up afterwards.

Beyoncé Knowles

So far in my book, Beyonce's parent's assigned her to singing lessons. Beyonce spent there practicing on her vocal's. Once her parent's came and picked her up and her vocal coach yelled out "She can sing! She can really sing!" She all had this dance group that she would sing and practice with. They would sign up for auditions. Beyonce's mom, Tina, owns a hair salon called "Headlines Hair Salon" where Beyonce's friends would preform to the people that were getting their hair done as some sort as entertainment. Beyonce's dad was manager for Beyonce's group. "Girls Tyme".  He would sometimes make the girls sing and run increase their endurance. He also hired a professional model to teach the girls how to walk in heels.

I think that the author wrote this book because they wanted more people to know what Beyoncé was like as a kid and how she became this well known singer with hundreds and thousands of fans. They wanted to know that Beyoncé grew up like every child did with the support of her parents. She was going to preform with her friends at an event, but they mess-up her song that they were going to dance to. She knew she was going to lose. She did. Her parents encouraged her and told her "Theres going to be more. This isn't the end."

Beyoncé Knowles A Biography

So far in my biography book, it talks about Beyoncé (aka B) when she was small and loved to sing. Around when she was 7 years old, she, her mom, and her younger sister, were playing on the key board and singing songs. Her father too her a story that whenever he puts on music, she would go crazy and dance before she could even walk. Later on, she attend the Grammys and sand her hit song "Dangerously in Love". That same night, she came home with 5 Grammys, trying to record a set for the most Grammys won by a female artist.

I find this book interesting because it shows how Beyoncé is strong enough to keep on with her career.  She wants to be noticed all around the world, write songs everyone will remember, and she get's support from her parents. I think everyone could relate to this. She's persevering on what she wants to do and what she does best. She's not backing down on anything. She want's people to succeed and keep on doing what they love.

Where she went Summary

In the end of my book, Where she went, things took off in a different direction. Adam finishes the book of by his point of view and how he sees things. Adam has been a mess without Mia. She's over there perfectly fine. So Adam decided to go his way. To not let things hold him back from his career. To sort out his problems. Even if he had to do it without Mia. Later on, he finally found a way to get over her. He realized he was much happier without her. Until they meet on later in the book. Will it be a happy ending? Or a nightmare. Read on to find out.

Theme
I think the theme in this book is to not let anything hold you back. You need to focus on you. Like Adam. he found out he was much happier without Mia. But he was still missing her little by little. He had to focus on what he was going to do in his life. And not let someone who will not feel the same about him to hold him back. He felt like his struggles were pointless. But he never gave up on what he loved. Music.

Summary of "Where She Went" Pt. 2

So far as I read more into my book, Mia is feeling kinda nervous to record her song. She now is starting to play the guitar she's been having. Adam still want's to know what Mia is doing with her life. Adam still want's hope, if him and Mia will get back together. Will they ever get back together?

One of my sign posts I found in my book are Tough Questions because Adam still want's to end up with Mia again. Then again, Mia doesn't want to see how Adam is. To me, Mia seems like she doesn't know what do to with her career. She get's nervous whenever she's in the recording studio. Then she calms herself after a while by playing her instrument.

Where She Went Summary

In the book I'm currently reading "Where she went" By Glayle Forman, Mia's ex-boyfriend Adam, told her while she was in the hospital he'll do whatever it takes to get her to live. So she did. It's been 3 years and Adam still questions about Mia. He's now on the road with his band and his new girlfriend. Mia went her own way too. She now has another addiction so far. Smoking. I think it's because of all the stress she went through without her family.

Personally, I think this is person vs. self conflict, because I think Mia is still trying to understand that her family isn't coming back. The closet is her aunts, uncles, and such. She has her whole music career ahead of her to get her mind off of it for a while. Mia seems like a strong girl. Also, if you liked If I Stay, make sure to read Where She Went for more adventures with Mia!

Goal Setting on Divergent

Academic Goal - My academic goal for school is to start turning in my work instead of slacking off and not turning them in. I need to focus and not procrastinate a lot. Possibly to go to the library or into the living room without the remote or my phone.

Person Goal - To meet Lana Del Rey and to finally get a longboard using my own money before my birthday. By saving up this money, I'm going to work around the house until I have enough money.
